I did not take a path
left handed
well traveled
less traveled
stamped neat by fearful feet
I did not follow my ancestors
who were following the animals
who let thick boar bristles and the soft footfalls of bigger cats lay their tracks
I took no path at all
I face-checked every bush
hacked and carved in a curved line
I set my sights on fae lights
and blazoned a new way
I ran right into the thicket
anytime things just started to clear
anytime the obstacles started to thin
I jumped in
